New Partnership: Radical and Secret Church
Atlanta, GA: Third Lens Ministries is pleased to announce its newest partnership with Radical and Secret Church based in Birmingham, AL.
Radical is the resource ministry of teacher and author, Dr. David Platt. They serve alongside the local church by providing resources in multiple languages, organizing catalytic events like Secret Church, and facilitating opportunities through multiple avenues all with the aim to encourage followers of Christ in the global purpose God has designed for us as His people. Their prayer is that these resources will support disciple-making efforts in local churches around the world.
Secret Church began at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama, based on time Dr. David Platt spent with brothers and sisters in underground Asian house churches. In those contexts, they gather together at the risk of their lives for 8-12 hours at a time simply to pray, worship, and study the Word.
At the first gathering there were about 1,000 people, and after that it began to grow. Secret Church now takes place with thousands of believers joining together in homes, church buildings, and other locations all around the world. One of Dr. Platt’s favorite sights is to look out across a room packed with people at midnight with their Bibles open just soaking in the Word of God.
Radical has generously agreed to provide Third Lens with Dr. Platt and Secret Church’s Bible teaching resources. Third Lens will be able to distribute these resources to the leaders of the churches and communities in which is works and to the staffs of its ministry partners.
“I read Dr. Platt’s book Radical many years ago and have had the privilege to hear him speak on several occasions. He is one of the foremost teachers of Bible doctrine and a campaign for global missions. So many of the communities we work in lack basic Bible teaching resources. I was in Uganda earlier this year and a pastor told me that nearly 80% of the pastors in the country had no formal Bible training. Seminaries and discipleship programs do not exist like they do in other parts of the world. Through the generosity of Radical and Secret Church we can distribute these resources to pastors and church leaders in marginalized nations, so that they may gather to make disciples,” said Brian O’Neil, Executive Director of Third Lens.
