Auburn, AL: Third Lens Ministries is pleased to announce its newest ministry partnership with Our House, a ministry of By Our Love. Third Lens will provide support in the design and construction of Our House’s newest home in Auburn, AL with construction scheduled to begin in early 2017.
By Our Love, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is the result of five years of local mission outreach to families living in Ridgecrest Apartments, an Auburn public housing community located on North Donahue in Auburn, Alabama. In the spring of 2011, a Sunday school class from the Auburn Church of Christ began meeting with a single mother of four boys who lived in Ridgecrest. Not long after, the Church hosted their Easter sunrise service at Ridgecrest and began to build relationships with other families in the community, showing God’s love through listening and serving. Students from the Auburn Christian Student Center, the campus ministry of ACOC, began building relationships with the children who live in Ridgecrest through weekly afternoon play time, carpooling to church on Sundays, and tutoring one-on-one.
By Our Love was formed in 2014 with members from other churches who were also serving the residents of Ridgecrest and the non-profit corporation purchased a home adjacent to Ridgecrest. That summer, By Our Love opened the doors to what has become affectionately known as “Our House.” The ministry is engaging the neighbors on a regular basis through weekly Bible studies, enrichment activities, after school and reading programs for the children, fellowship meals and individual mentoring for both young and old. In 2016, By Our Love purchased a lot in close proximity to Our House, with plans to develop the property to meet the ever growing needs of their neighbors.
David Hinson, a professor in Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction, will serve as architect on the project, while Third Lens will serve as construction manager on behalf of By Our Love. “We are extremely excited to partner with Our House and assist with expanding their ministry’s impact of the Ridgecrest community.” said Brian O’Neil, Third Lens’ Executive Director. “Rene and her team are making a generational impact on these children. I’m excited to see how the Auburn community rallies around this project in the coming months.”
