Roofing a Sanctuary in Tanzania
The roof for a sanctuary that host hundreds each week congregating from rural villages in the small city of Itigi, Tanzania is erecting the first trusses. This project, a ministry of Unreached Peoples Mission, is under the leadership of Williams Yindi who with his family has committed to form disciples of Christ in these rural villages.
Williams has shared his vision with many and others have joined him in moving forward the work that has been started. Chris Skiff, a developer of senior housing in California, and Kennedy Simtowe, a steel fabricator in Dar Salaam Tanzania, both promised to share themselves and their resources to complete the building that Williams had begun with local leaders and financial gifts. Chris reached out to Third Lens Ministries for a review of the structure and budget to build this roof.
All committed the work to a disciplined review of structural integrity and counting the costs. With conversations, shared drawings, and written correspondence, the construction professions collaborated to fully develop the vision planted by Williams. Chris shared his conviction of this exercise stating, “…after your thorough report came to me, indicating the pros and cons of the contractor’s proposal, I prayed about the matter often and felt God telling me that you and I had been “good and faithful servants”, AND that it was time to get rolling.”
This roof is now rolling under the technical leadership of Kennedy and soon the long standing walls that gather many under the sun, will hold a roof that will receive much praise to our God!
