The house now belongs to his grandson who wants to bring it back to life as a place for families to gather and grow in the community. The purpose of The Curtis House is to capture the dream of motivating individuals, to elevate them to their highest potential to live productive lives and create a sense of inclusiveness throughout the community. It will be a place for programs addressing health and wellness, healing and meditation, transitional housing solutions, community beautification, co-op gardening, and a safe place for the children to come spend time.
The Curtis House
The Curtis House has been an important place in the Opelika community for many years. Mr. Lottie B Curtis was the original owner of the house and a father-figure to many in the neighborhood. He was an important figure in the local church and always opened his home to the children in the community to gather and learn.
