The pioneer steps in addressing children in crisis by the La Casa Foundation in the small crowded country of El Salvador are building a stable bridge to long term impact. Third Lens Board recently joined staff in the field to learn about the trends in local government and the partners making strides to bring hope to abandoned and abused children. The efforts of 2014 have opened new doors with the Salvadoran government for La Casa to serve as a national pilot for a childcare model that replaces government run orphanages. While construction activities are pending the approval of permits, the new partners and advocates for the foundation are putting the ongoing work with children and their families on a bigger stage.
This year the visiting teams from North Point Ministry’s Global X have joined staff and Construction Partner HERCO S.A. to remodel the first home on the site. This facility will serve the escalating activities on the property in Santo Tomas. This future home of operations for the foundation is a property with amazing potential to serve the staff and children in a process of restoration and healing.
La Casa de Mi Padre is a home to children who were taken into custody by the Salvadoran government. Called to make an intervention into the systemic problems tearing apart the family, the ministry became an official foundation in El Salvador in 2003. Today, La Casa carries out daily activities to address needs in the children’s home life, academics, counseling, and family. All is done to share Christ’s love and compassion in rented facilities in the neighborhoods of capital city San Salvador.
